Recently, Pastor Brandon used the phrase, “as the moon reflects the sun, so we should reflect Christ.”
You probably know that the moon gains it’s bright light by its nearness to the sun. So we, as followers of Jesus Christ, as His disciples, the more we know Him through prayer and Bible Study, the more we love Him; the more we know Him, the more we desire to deny ourselves and follow Him, the more we are changed and reflect Him, Jesus Christ the Son of God.
Beginning this Sunday, December 2 at 9am and 10:30am, Pastor Brandon begins a new teaching series on the Gospel of Luke. It’s said that this gospel is the most comprehensive of the four. I’m personally over the moon excited about this study because of where we all are today. Life and culture coupled with the schemes of the evil one are quite challenging, at times, so what better to study than the life of Jesus. Who is Jesus? How did He live, treat people, react to hardship, love people?
Some may feel as if Christianity is simply a set of rules to follow but that’s not it - could they be looking at scripture without considering who Jesus is and how knowing Him leads to a desire to follow His ways, a change in our heart—our entire perspective. Through the Gospel of Luke, get to know and love the person of Jesus Christ. You’ll gain help to get through every day with a sense of purpose, joy, and meaning in life. And, you’ll be naturally driven to invest in others, sharing your Savior... and loving, forgiving and sharing grace with all.
Jesus said, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering...”
