Three Simple Steps

Three Simple Steps to do Your Part for Welcome Home Sunday

It's Wednesday, but Sunday's coming... Welcome Home Sunday, that is. This Sunday, September 8th. And I am extremely excited about it!

It's a really simple day. Nothing over-the-top. Nothing fancy.

Just donuts and a little extra coffee.

Why am I so excited about it then?

Because it is a GREAT opportunity for disciple-making. That's why.

Remember, in your Connection Classes, you all have worked together to set an attendance goal of about 950 in Connection. 950! That's incredible.

Our Year-to-Date average is right around 825, so a successful Welcome Home Sunday would mean over a HUNDRED more people in Connection than on an average Sunday. A HUNDRED more people who would get to hear the gospel, who would feel welcome and encouraged by the friendly people here at Green Street.

If we want more people here on Sunday, you have a part to play.

Here are three steps you can take this week:

1. Ask yourself, "Who have I not seen in a while in my connection class or at church, in general?"

Then, pray for them, reach out to them, and invite them to Welcome Home Sunday!

2. Ask yourself, "Who in my circles of influence (work, recreation, community) isn't connected to a local church?"

Then, pray for them, reach out to them, and invite them to Welcome Home Sunday!

3. If you can't think of anybody, call or text your Connection Class teacher and ask for some names and contact info of people who haven't been in a while.

Then, pray for them, reach out to them, and invite them to Welcome Home Sunday!

You cannot over-estimate the power of a simple invitation from a friendly voice. Be bold. Be compassionate. Be confident in the gospel. We have the best news in the world: the gospel of God's grace in Jesus Christ.

Welcome Home Sunday is a great opportunity to help someone hear the gospel by inviting them to church on Sunday. If they can't make it this Sunday or turn you down, continue praying for them.

And hey, to make it even sweeter, there'll be plenty of donuts and coffee to go around.

Blessings to you this week as you make disciples.
