VBS & Disciple-Making at Home

by Meredith Snoddy

While it is true that many today are not growing up getting to know Jesus, I was one of the children who spent time in the church as a child only to leave it later (but, thank God, return). My great-grandmother shared Jesus through His word, through His love lived out in her and through encouraging her family to be involved in the local church.

My sister and I attended many a Vacation Bible School and I still have some of the items I made during those precious days. My great-grandmother, grandmother and mother all served during VBS. I believe that God used those years in my life to grow His love for all people and the desire to tell them that He loves them. Those early years, learning about the person of Jesus Christ, were impactful.

Vacation Bible School still serves as a great opportunity to share with the community and the church, to reach children and their families. Check out this information and graphic from LifeWay. And, it is true that we still have the amazing opportunity and privilege to invest in the generations.

We would appreciate your prayers for everyone involved in Vacation Bible School not just at Green Street but at churches all around our city! We would also appreciate your prayers for what happens later, at home.

Here are a few resources we found on the Baptist State Convention of NC website. We believe they will be helpful, but, as a follower of Jesus Christ, remember that His Spirit lives within you. As you pray and study His word for yourself, we are certain that He will guide and direct you to lead your family well.
