Singles' Adult Ministry.

The Singles Ministry

The single adult ministry at Green Street Baptist Church exists to provide a community for single adults to connect, learn, train and go into the world to serve Christ!  Our goal is to empower single adults in their journey toward spiritual, personal and relational wholeness through a variety of programs, classes and activities.

About Us

Our single adult classes and activities are for the most part organized by age, interests, and situational lifestyles, so whether you're just out of college, retired, or working as a single parent, GSBC has something for you. Most social events are coordinated through Connection Classes (small group Bible Study). Other than meeting for lunch on Sundays, class groups meet weekends and evenings for dinner and recreation, plus monthly service projects.

Our Core Values

Spiritual Health
We are committed to deepen our relationships with Jesus Christ. We want to grow strong and healthy in our knowledge and intimacy with our Lord.

Significant Relationships
We build solid friendships with one another that will last for a lifetime and encourage us towards a positive single lifestyle.

Safe Environments
We are a safe place for both men and women to meet one another where mutual respect and honor are hallmarks of all that we do.  Alcohol free, tobacco free and non-sexually pressured environments are a must.

Service Opportunities
We recognize that God has put each one of us here for a purpose, and that purpose is discovered through our service to one another and the world.

Top 10 Questions

“Do you have a Singles Group at Green Street?”
Yes we do.  It is a ministry designed specifically for Single Adults.

“Is there an age group for me?”
That depends on whether you are between the ages of 18-59.  Due to the tendency of most people to gravitate toward their own age group, we ask that you connect with a small group in your age group:

  • Ages 18-24  “College/Career” class meet for Connection Class (Small Group Bible Study) at 10:45 in E-311
  • Ages 25-59 meet for Connection Class (Small Group Bible Study) at 10:45 in our Fellowship Hall (FH 102/104).

“Are there activities to participate in with other single adults?”
Yes, we currently have relational events that cover the gamut from volleyball on Sunday evenings to lunches out with other single adults each Sunday.  Specific classes (small groups) meet more frequently than does the whole group of Single Adults.  However, you will find many events that integrate with the entire Single Adult body as well as they church body.

“How can I get involved?”
Come to our Single AdultConnection Class hour.  We are currently all meeting in the fellowship hall of our church at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

“When do you go to worship service?”
Most of our single adults go to the 9:15 a.m. worship hour.  We generally sit downstairs, on the right-hand side.

“Do you have to be a member of Green Street to participate in the Single Adult Ministry there?”
No, but membership has its’ rewards.  For example, members get our monthly newsletter as well as postcards about upcoming events.  Also, members get discounts on retreats and events.  You can actually become a member of our Connection Class and not be a member of our church.

“What events do you have for single adults?”
Everything from A-Z.  Check out our calendar on our website by going back to our home page and clicking on the “calendar” button.  You will find events specifically tailored to meet the needs of our single adults.

“Can I meet someone to date at your single adult
ministry?”
This is not a dating service.  Nor is it a place to intentionally come with the primary purpose of finding someone to date.  Our primary purpose is to lead people to worship God, commit to outreach, build relationships in our ministries that are centered on Jesus Christ, and grow through a process of discipleship in the body, and service to the world.  If your focus is on God first, He will bless you.

“I have children.  Do you have something for my kids?”
Yes, we have ministry options for your kids.  Sometimes we have Single Parent events for you and your kids.  Sometimes we have Single Parent events for just you (and we provide childcare).  Sometimes, we have childcare available for our large group Single Adult events.  However, sometimes we do not have childcare due to staffing vacancies.  Please check our website calendar for the most up to date answer regarding your kids.

“How can I talk to someone about more information?”
Contact our Connection Pastor, Eric Davis. 336-841-3229 Ext. 111.
