I don't know what you've heard about Jesus, but the Jesus I know is much more than a historical figure, a religious teacher, a good teacher, or a good example. There are a lot of ideas floating around about who Jesus, but when you meet the Jesus I know, He changes everything. Because the Jesus I know is everything.
Jesus Christ is the son of God who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was both fully God and fully human, but Jesus never sinned though He was tempted in every way. Through His substitutionary death on the cross, Jesus made a way for the redemption of men and women from sin. He was raised from the dead and appeared to His disciples, and to many others, as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, our Savior, Sympathetic High Priest, in Whom the reconciliation between God and us is possible. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to finish His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers, through His Holy Spirit, as the living and ever present Lord. And, He can absolutely change your life.
This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. John 3:16
The message of Jesus, of the Gospel, of the Good News can simply be summed up as this -- we live in a broken world with broken lives. We can see it around us in pain and suffering. God's original design was perfect and He made us with meaning and purpose. Life doesn't work when we are separated from God, by sin, or we ignore Him and the way He originally designed our lives. The Bible calls this sin. Sin leads to our brokenness, but God's love continued to pursue us as He provided His Son Jesus to rescue us -- to take our sin and shame. We try self-help books, to work harder, to go our own way. But, nothing truly works, it won't. And, no, our failures, history and shortcomings do not disquality us from God's love. The answer, the remedy to our brokenness is Jesus -- His death and resurrection is the Good News.
The Bible says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. And, to accept God’s love is to trust His patient, forgiving and gracious stance towards us. Only Jesus has the power to free us from guilt, shame and condemnation and to give us a life of wholeness. All we have to do is turn to Jesus as our Savior. And, follow Him as Lord of our lives.
To be made whole, or to be saved is to submit to God and His plan and purpose for our lives. It is a turning from our old ways and turning to Jesus, to ask Him for forgiveness from our sins and to give us new life in Him.
Romans 10:9 says that “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” If you believe, tell Him today. If you'd like to talk to someone, please call us 336-841-4334, we'd love to speak with you.
